As a called minister of the gospel, Darryl R. Johnson Sr. is the founder and Pastor of the Walk of Faith Covenant Church, and founder of Walk of Faith Ministry headquartered in Mound Bayou, Mississippi where the ministry has ministered to the community’s youth and adult population for over 25 years. Johnson is proud of the fact that many people have received God’s blessing over the years through the ministry programs.

As a businessman and entrepreneur he is the owner of Professional Sales. Other business startups include, Professional Florist, Professional Formal Wear, Professional Furniture and Appliances, Professional Auto Sales and Professional Digital and Cellular. He is President of Ominicast Media Corporation where he was one time owner of WRDC radio in Boyle, Mississippi.

Continuing the call of God on his life, Darryl R. Johnson Sr. founded the Mound Bayou Movement Inc. to assist in directing public interest and finances to the area to restore Mound Bayou and the surrounding area and to enhance the ability to attract commerce to this area of the Mississippi Delta. Mound Bayou has very important historical significance. It has also become a tourist destination in the Mississippi Delta. I have already been involved in plans to make the city attractive and productive to the tourist industry and place that citizen and visitors can be proud of. I don’t believe in saying “I can’t” or “we can’t”, while attacking the present challenges facing the city. I do believe that with the citizen’s help and involvement in the restoration of what Mound Bayou can be, we will see a city that cannot be hid. I also have an ongoing plan to cleanup, fix up and dress up the city so that it can be shining example of the pride of the founders and the intent of our ancestors.

I plan to enhance every area of operation of the city, that every problem area will be alleviated. I will also support ways of listening to and dealing with citizen problems immediately. It is important to recognize that it is the citizen that we represent.

Rev. Johnson is a proud graduate of Alcorn State University where he completed his Pre-Law degree. He has a Master of Divinity degree and is working on his Doctorate. He is married to Beverly Coleman and has raised three children, two sons Darryl II, Joshua and one daughter Tonja. He has one grandson, Justin Damon Johnson.
